Who or what is "The Eames Era?" Apparently virtually nobody's heard of them - which makes me an expert, relatively-speaking. Here's what I know: they're an obscure band from Louisiana named after a post-war period of design and, according to the picture in the CD case, one of the members wears a kerchief. Also, they make some very good music.
Anyway, I heard "When You Were a Millionaire" on KGRL and thought it had an absolutely drop-dead hook. Frankly, it's the best pop song I've heard in a long time. So, I thought, "why not buy the CD?"
After a couple of spins I'll say that, while WYWAM is still my favorite, there are several other tracks that are really good as well. This is a very creative and talented group with a fresh sound. They're melodious, but not saccharine. They're edgy, but not too edgy. If I had to categorize them I guess maybe "power pop" would be it. (Can you really be a pop group before you're popular?) In any case, I hope they make more music of this quality and get the recognition they deserve. Right now I'm looking to get my hands on their other CDs.
