What a knock out!! First of all, when I renewed my interest in Barbie just a few years ago, I happened upon Hollywood Hostess and was thrilled by how tres chic she was, but disappointed because I thought she was someone else's one-of-a-kind creation on display; I didn't realize that she was an actual Mattel production doll. I HAD to have her in my collection, but what agony - she was in a price range that I couldn't just acquire on a whim, so decided I'd just have to hunker down for a price that would suit.
I mean, she's HAUTE Hollywood Hostess (with THE mostest). The red tresses in a side-swept do with the retro face sculpt definitely suit a Hollywood of yesteryear when the actresses of the day were indeed Classy. Now, I simply have to tell you what the outfit reminds me of. In the "Tales of Peter Rabbit" by Beatrix Potter, there's a story about the "Tailor of Gloucester" in which an elderly Tailor has to complete a fancy outfit for some nobility but it's a struggle because his eyesight is failing, so little mice help him out by cutting out the waistcoat out of beautiful brocade, etc., and overnight create a masterpiece. Well, Miss Tres Chic Barbie's outfit is of lace that is lined and shaped just so - no way could a real person craft, cut and stitch this diminutive ensemble to such perfection - it has to be the same sewing mice from that story.
All of that to say that the details of this doll are superb and the orange chiffon scarf/shimmery aqua jewelry pieces compliment the whole look to PERFECTION! Subsequent to her purchase from Amazon (which offered the best price) I then had to obtain "French Maid Barbie" and featured her in a diorama with a tea cart pouring high tea - old Hollywood style, as you can imagine how the studio Execs. would have indulged her. Anyway, I could go one and on, but if you're a Barbie enthusiast and she's not in your collection, it's i-n-c-o-m-p-l-e-t-e because she's par excellence! (See how she inspires the snippets of French in the description)

If you love gift sets, tiny miniature silver tea services, and brightly colored hair, you'll fall in love with this Silkstone doll, Hollywood Hostess.
The doll is a high-quality Silkstone-bodied doll with rooted orange hair--and I mean orange!--styled in a side ponytail of cascading curls. Her facial screening compliments her aqua blue eyes perfectly, without quite being over the top or too much.
She comes dressed in a long, elegant white eyelet pantsuit, trimmed with a striking orange floor-length chiffon sash, matching strappy heels, and complementary turquoise jewelry, including a necklace, bracelet and earrings. A stand is also included.
Additionally, she includes another outfit: a short white eyelet belted skirt with a orange bodysuit, not currently shown in the photos here. (I'll have to take some and upload them.) Also included is a tiny silver tea service, including cups, saucers and spoons for four, a tea pot, sugar bowl and creamer, all on a silver tray--making her truly the perfect Hollywood Hostess.
This doll looks terrific redressed in turquoise, yellow, green and of course, orange. Try her in black, too. She's so much fun!
Some important FYI about Silkstone dolls in general: She cannot hold the tray without rubberbands on her wrists, and her only articulation (like all Silkstones produced so far) are her shoulders, waist and legs. She stands nearly 12" tall and won't fit most other regular-sized Barbie clothes, just so you know. (If you're new to Silkstone Barbies, this can come as a surprise). She is designed as a doll for a collector, not as a toy.
Seriously, though--her hair color and eye combination may seem shocking in the promo photos, but in person, she is simply smashing, and one of my collection's favorites. I adore her!
