This is music I have loved ever since seventh grade (that was grammar school then, not junior high or middle school). Not many of my tastes have survived so long. I wonder if Martin Denny has been less appreciated (because of the sound effects and exoticism) than he deserves as a composer, jazz pianist, and band leader. Still, I know he's not forgotten because of all the CDs that are available today. This really is wonderful music, like nothing else, for its entertainment value as well as it's complexity and originality. This particular recording, which comes from Japan, presents a large selection for one disc -- 28 tracks -- and enormous amounts of discographical information, even though, of course, in Japanese. In any case, if you have room for only one Martin Denny disc, I think this should be the one. An added bonus for me is, my dogs love it too!
