I bought a couple of these heads for mounting flashguns off camera. Having just tried them out I am really very happy with them indeed. They are well made and the clamp is positive and locks the ball very positively. (They have a built in swivel underneath into which the tripod screws - the twist knob locks this and the ball at the same time).
A tip here too. I'd also bought a couple of mini flexible tripods on Amazon (just search for them - Neewer or Hama come up as the brand names) these are very cheap but work very well and match up with this ball head almost perfectly.
But... do be careful. This does have it's limits. The ball head is very small (i.e. neat) and I'd never even consider using with a DSLR (look for a head with a ball of at least 35mm dia from a reputable maker - this one is probably only 10mm max). I have tried with a Canon G7 compact - that's a pretty chunky compact and it works fine on a table but I'd say that size is the limit for this head.
