・ストレージ 2.5吋 HDD(7200rpm)
・OS Windows7 Home 64bit

CPU:Core i3 4360(3.7GHz 2C/4T)
Mem:16GB(8GBx2)
Storage:SSD128GB(SAMSUNG830)
Mother:Shuttle DS81 bareborn
OS:ubuntu server edition12.04(14.04

I bought the Shuttle DS81 along with the following components to replace my previous desktop computer since that was getting a bit slow.
Intel Core i7-4790S CPU - BX80646I74790S
8GB G.Skill Ripjaws DDR3 1600MHz SO-DIMM CL11 RAM
MyDigitalSSD 128GB mSATA SSD (boot drive)
Seagate Backup Plus Slim 2TB Portable External Hard Drive STDR2000100 (the notebook drive was extracted and used as a data drive)
Anker USB 3.0 to SATA Adapter
Dell BIZLINK DisplayPort to DVI Dual Link Adapter (NOT recommended)
The good:
This PC is small, and that's what I wanted. It's just slightly bigger than an optical drive. There's no sense in having a huge box on my desk that has to be huge to hold a 5.25" optical drive and some 3.5" hard drives. For the rare moments when I need an optical drive, I can easily attach one externally with the Anker adapter.
My old system was noisy and getting noisier. The DS81 is very quiet most of the time, but when running a CPU-intensive task, the fans will be a constant reminder of it presense, although at it's noisiest, it's still quieter than my previous computer.
It's really fast. For example I am able to transcode an HD movie in about 2 hours with this where it took nearly 24 hours on my previous system.
The bad:
I planned to use the DS81 with my Dell 2405FPW and 30007WFP monitors. These are both IPS panels and were expensive. The first runs at 1920x1200 via DVI and the second at 2560x1600 via dual link DVI. The 2405FPW is easy enough to connect to any video port on the DS81 with a passive DVI adapter, but the only theoretical way I found to run the 3007WFP at full resolution is with an active USB-powered DisplayPort to dual link DVI adapter. The problem is, it doesn't work. No video is displayed using the BIZLINK adapter above. I tried the adapter on two different machines that had DisplayPorts and it worked on those, so it doesn't appear to be a problem with the adapter. Shuttle support didn't have a solution, and I even exchanged the DS81 and CPU thinking one of those might be defective (Appologies to Amazon, Intel, and Shuttle). Similar adapters are sold by HP, Startech, and Accell, but after studying the photos of each, they appear identical, so I'm assuming they are all made by the same company and buying another would just be throwing more money away. I looked for a DisplayLink solution, but there doesn't appear to be one. So as it stands, I won't be able to use my 3007WFP monitor anymore, and if I buy a new 4K monitor to replace it, I won't be able to use my 2405FPW either since, from what I understand, you can only use one monitor with the DS81 if it's 4K. I'm still depating on returning the whole caboodle. Fortunately, most people don't own 2560x1600 DVI monitors so the DS81 should work fine for them.
Edit (June 14, 2015): I've been using my DS81 for almost a year now and a couple big events occurred where I felt I should add this update...
The bad news is after using the computer for four months, it crashed hard for no obvious reason. It was completely dead and the power supply was essentially being shorted out when it was plugged into the DS81. I sent it back to Shuttle for warranty service. Their turnaround was impressive and shipped it back the day after they received it after replacing the motherboard. When I reinstalled everything, it turned out the crash also killed the CPU so I had to do a warranty replacement on that as well. The entire process to get up and running again took nearly a month.
The good news is, just before pulling the trigger on a new UHD monitor, I decided to try my active DP-to-Dual-link DVI adapter one last time and IT WORKED. So after being without my 30" monitor for nearly a year, I'm using it again. My original problem turned out to be a defective adapter since wiggling the cables on it will cause the monitor to go blank. I'm using an Intel Core i7-4790S CPU, which has the Intel HD Graphics 4600 GPU on board and I have confirmed it can drive a 2560x1600 and a 1920x1200 monitor simultaneously at 60Hz with no problem. As a result, I'm changing my rating from 3 to 5 stars because this little powerhouse does everything I want it to do and it's virtually silent.

Zeit umzusteigen?

I inserted an i3-4130T, 2 sticks of 8GB RAM, and a SSD drive, and the thing booted fine.
I'd also installed Shuttle WLN-S Wireless LAN Kit. Here I have 2 quibbles:-
First, it was hard to attach the antennas through the 2 small holes on the rear of the case, since the threads only just fit through the holes.
Second, I'd like to install a second Shuttle WLN-S Wireless LAN Kit, but the antenna holes are now already occupied, and there doesn't seem to be a spot to secure/screw the second wireless card to the motherboard.
I installed Windows Server 2012. Everything is good, except my ethernet connection periodically disconnects. Yet to determine whether an updated driver (where do I get that?) would fix this, or indeed which software layer the problem lies in.
